Dyslexia Information for NWES

2019-2020 SEA 217 Dyslexia Information for North White Elementary School

The 2019-2020 school year is the first year we are required by the state to share information on how we are implementing the new requirements for dyslexia screenings and interventions.  For details about our new dyslexia law, SEA 217,  please visit the site below.

Dyslexia Information from North White Elementary

Dyslexia intervention program used: Orton-Gillingham and/or Wilson Reading Program

Number of students who received dyslexia interventions: 25 students (1st and 2nd, 3rd grade RtI students)

Number of students identified with dyslexia: 0

*Because of the recent COVID-19 outbreak and our last day at school being March 13, we were unable to complete the screening process on our kindergarten students.  According to the Indiana Department of Education (IDOE), we will screen these students when school resumes next year as we are able.  Below is the IDOE’s most recent guidance on how the dyslexia screenings and interventions will be implemented for the end of this year and beginning of next year.
